COMBINED LASER TREATMENT FOR THE ADVANCED PORT-WINE STAIN

Abstract
|

|
The face is one of the most important body image areas and is an area often affected by a port-wine stain, also known as hemangioma simplex, nevus flammeus. Its an unsightly discoloration of the skin which can be psychologically damaging. As people age the stain may also become larger.
Due to the developement of laser technology, previously used surgical and cosmetic treatments are no longer necessary. Port-wine stains cvan be treated using a variety of different lasers.
Advanced port-wine stains can be treated succesfully using a combination laser treatments, namely Flashlamp excited dye lase (FEDL) and Nd : YAG laser.
